Melissa Klar, Director of Real Estate at McAllen Properties, oversees leasing, property management, and operations across the company’s diverse portfolio totaling more than 1 million square feet of commercial space. In her role, Melissa leads strategic leasing initiatives, drives operational efficiencies, manages asset performance, and works closely with ownership to maximize portfolio value and long-term growth. Her comprehensive oversight ensures alignment between tenant relations, financial performance, and operational excellence across the entire portfolio.
With more than 20 years of direct management, leasing, and operations experience, Melissa brings extensive industry knowledge, strong leadership, and a results-driven mindset to the McAllen team.
Melissa began her career as a Leasing Agent/Assistant Property Manager of a 400-unit market-rate apartment community, where she earned recognition as “Most Productive Leasing Agent.” In 2010, she joined Oakbrook Corporation as Property Manager for two LIHTC apartment communities totaling 115 units. Her performance and leadership quickly led to a promotion to Area Manager, where she oversaw a portfolio of twenty-two apartment communities and directly managed a team of 19 Property Managers.
Melissa’s background in both affordable and market-rate housing, combined with her executive leadership in commercial real estate, provides her with a well-rounded perspective that strengthens portfolio performance, tenant satisfaction, and operational success.
